CF7 Mate

Switching from CF7 Mate Pro

Every CF7 Mate Pro feature is now in the free plugin. Swap the plugins in a few minutes; your forms, settings and responses stay as they are.

Everything from CF7 Mate Pro is now in the free CF7 Mate plugin. Swap one plugin for the other and keep working. Your forms, settings and saved responses stay where they are, so there is nothing to import.

How do I switch?

  1. Back up your site.
  2. Install the free CF7 Mate plugin from WordPress.org. Do not activate it yet.
  3. Deactivate the old CF7 Mate Pro plugin.
  4. Activate CF7 Mate.
  5. Check your forms, the CF7 Mate tab on a few of them, and CF7Mate → Responses.

Keep the old plugin installed but inactive until you have checked everything. Then you can delete it.

What carries over?

  • Your feature choices, including any feature you switched off.
  • Every form and its per-form settings: redirects, routing, scheduling and save progress.
  • All saved responses and analytics counts.
  • Your AI provider settings and webhook addresses.

Both plugins use the same settings and the same response storage. CF7 Mate keeps a copy of your original feature choices from before the switch.

What if both plugins are active?

CF7 Mate waits and shows this notice: “CF7 Mate now includes all features for free. Deactivate the legacy CF7 Mate Pro plugin, then activate CF7 Mate to complete the switch.” It does not turn the old plugin off for you. Deactivate CF7 Mate Pro to finish.

What changed from Pro?

  • No license. There is no license screen or key. Updates come from WordPress.org.
  • White label is gone. The white-label settings were removed. Your old white-label settings are kept in the database, unused, in case you roll back.
  • New Saddle screen. An optional Saddle screen explains how to connect an AI app. Nothing is installed for you.

FAQ

My old Pro plugin does not offer an update. Why?

Older Pro versions may not offer the update when their license has expired. Install the free plugin by hand, using the steps above.

Does installing the free plugin cancel my subscription?

No. Removing the license requirement does not cancel a paid subscription. For billing questions, contact support.

Will I lose responses if something goes wrong?

No. The switch never deletes form data or responses. To go back, deactivate CF7 Mate and activate the old plugin again. That is why you keep it until you have checked everything.

What should I do next?

Look over the Features page and the CF7 Mate tab, which were redesigned in version 3.1.0.
