Webhooks, Email Routing, Redirects and Scheduling
Choose what happens around a submission: send it to other tools, email the right person, send the visitor to a thank-you page, and open or close the form on set dates.
CF7 Mate lets you decide what happens around each submission. Send it to another tool, email the right person, take the visitor to a thank-you page, or accept submissions only on certain dates.
Webhooks are set up once for the whole site under Tools. The other three are set per form, in the CF7 Mate tab of the Contact Form 7 editor. Save the form with Contact Form 7’s own Save button to keep them.
How do I send submissions to another tool?
Webhooks post every new submission as JSON to the addresses you add. Use them with Zapier, Make, Slack or your own endpoint.
- Turn on Webhooks under CF7Mate → Settings. It starts off.
- Go to CF7Mate → Tools and find Webhooks.
- Paste a Webhook URL and click Add. Add as many as you need.
- Click Test to send sample data, then click Save.
Each submission from any form goes to every saved address. The request has the header X-CF7-Mate-Webhook: 1 and a body like this:
{
"form_id": 12,
"form_title": "Contact",
"submitted_at": "2026-10-23T09:30:00+00:00",
"posted_data": { "your-name": "Sam", "your-email": "[email protected]" },
"ip": "203.0.113.5",
"user_agent": "Mozilla/5.0 ..."
}
The visitor’s IP address and browser details are included. Check that each destination’s terms and your privacy notice allow this. The Test button sends sample data from your own browser, not a real submission.
How do I email the right person based on an answer?
Email routing changes who gets the notification email.
- Open the form, click the CF7 Mate tab and open Email routing.
- Click + Add rule. Enter the Field name, pick an Operator (equals, does not equal or contains), enter the Value and the Recipient emails.
- Add more rules if you need them, then click Save.
The first matching rule wins. Its addresses replace the recipient in the form’s Mail tab. When no rule matches, the email goes to the Mail tab’s recipient as normal.
How do I send visitors to a thank-you page?
- In the CF7 Mate tab, open After submission and tick Enable redirect.
- Enter the Redirect URL. A full address or a path such as
/thank-you/both work. - Optionally tick Open in new tab, or set a Delay (ms) before the redirect. 0 means straight away.
- Click Save.
Put a field name in square brackets to pass an answer along, such as /thank-you/?name=[your-name]. The value is encoded for the address.
Under Conditional redirects, add rules to use a different page when an answer matches. The first matching rule wins. Otherwise the URL above is used. Redirects only happen after a successful submission.
How do I open and close a form on set dates?
- In the CF7 Mate tab, open Scheduling and tick Enable scheduling for this form.
- Set an Open date, a Close date, or both. Leave one empty for an open-ended schedule.
- Write the Closed message. The default is “This form is no longer accepting submissions.”
- Click Save.
Outside those dates, visitors see the closed message instead of the form. The server also refuses any submission sent outside the dates. Dates use your site’s timezone, which the panel shows.
FAQ
Can webhooks go to only one form?
No. Webhook addresses apply to every form on the site. Filter by form_id in the tool that receives them.
Does email routing change the autoresponder?
No. Routing changes the recipient of the main notification in the Mail tab only.
Why are the CF7 Mate sections missing from my form?
A section only shows when its feature is on. Turn on Email routing, Redirect after submission or Form scheduling under CF7Mate → Settings.
What should I do next?
Keep a copy of every submission with Form responses, or let visitors finish later with save and continue.
