Connect an AI Agent to CF7 Mate with Saddle
Let Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another AI app create and edit Contact Form 7 forms on your site through Saddle. It can only work on form templates, never responses or keys.
Ask the AI app you already use to build a form, and it appears in Contact Form 7. Saddle connects apps like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor to your WordPress site. CF7 Mate gives that connection a small set of form tools, and you stay in control of what they may do.
This is optional. CF7 Mate works fully without it.
What do I need?
- WordPress 6.9 or later. The form tools use a WordPress feature added in that version.
- The free Saddle plugin, installed and connected to your AI app.
- An administrator account that can edit Contact Form 7 forms.
Your app uses its own AI account. You do not add a provider key to CF7 Mate for this.
What can the AI do with my forms?
| It can | What that means |
|---|---|
| Find forms | List and search your forms, 20 at a time. |
| Read a form | See its markup and shortcode, which CF7 Mate features are on, and styling guidance. |
| Create a form | Make a new Contact Form 7 form from a title and markup, and get its shortcode back. |
| Edit a form | Change a form’s title and markup. Saddle asks you first, because it replaces the old markup. |
And what it cannot do:
- Read stored responses or any API keys.
- Change the Mail tab, messages, or the form’s CF7 Mate settings such as redirects and routing.
- Send a test submission or any email.
- Put the form on a live page. You add the shortcode yourself after you review it.
Every change goes through Contact Form 7’s own save process, so its normal checks still apply.
How do I set it up?
- Install and activate Saddle.
- In Saddle → Agent setup, choose your AI app and follow the setup it gives you. See Set up Saddle MCP for every app.
- Turn on the CF7 Mate integration in Saddle’s settings. It stays off until you, the site owner, turn it on.
- Give your app Edit content access if you want it to create or change forms. Saddle starts at read-only.
The CF7Mate → Saddle screen walks you through the same steps and links to each one. It never installs, activates or connects anything for you.
What should I ask for?
Name the fields, which ones are required, and a style. For example:
Create a contact form called Project enquiry with labelled name, email, project type and message fields. Make name and email required. Use an enabled CF7 Mate style preset and give me the shortcode. Keep it off my live pages until I review it.
Then open the form in Contact Form 7. Check the form and its Mail tab before you add the shortcode to a page.
FAQ
Does the AI see my form submissions?
No. The form tools return form markup and guidance only. Responses and keys are never included.
Do I need Saddle Analytics?
No. Saddle Analytics is a separate, optional plugin for site traffic and visits from AI apps. It needs Saddle, WordPress 6.9 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. CF7 Mate’s own analytics cover form views and saved submissions.
My site runs WordPress 6.8. Will CF7 Mate still work?
Yes. Only the Saddle form tools need 6.9. Everything else in CF7 Mate works from WordPress 6.0.
What should I do next?
Connect your app with Set up Saddle MCP, then style the new form.
