CF7 Mate

AI Form Generator

Describe a form in plain English, or upload a screenshot, and get Contact Form 7 code to review and insert. Uses your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or OpenRouter key.

Describe the form you want and CF7 Mate writes the Contact Form 7 code. You review it, change anything you like, and insert it into the form editor. You can also upload a picture of a form design and get the matching code.

The generator uses your own AI provider account. CF7 Mate is free, but your provider may charge for each request.

Which AI providers can I use?

  • OpenAI
  • Anthropic
  • Google (Gemini)
  • OpenRouter

Each one has a list of models to pick from, with a recommended choice marked.

How do I connect a provider?

  1. Make sure AI form generator is on under CF7Mate → Settings.
  2. Go to CF7Mate → Tools and find AI form generator.
  3. Pick a Provider and a Model.
  4. Paste your API key. The Get an API key link opens your provider’s key page.
  5. Click Test connection, then Save.

You can remove the key at any time with Remove API key.

How do I generate a form?

  1. Open a form in Contact → Contact Forms, or add a new one.
  2. Click AI Generate next to the page title.
  3. Describe your form, pick one of the Quick presets, or drop in an image of a form design.
  4. Click Generate. On a Mac, Command + Enter works too.
  5. Read the code. Edit it if you need to, or click Regenerate.
  6. Click Insert, then save the form.

Insert replaces everything in the form editor. Copy any markup you want to keep first. The Mail tab is not changed, so check that it uses the new field names.

What is sent to the provider?

Only when you click Generate: your prompt, the model you chose, any image you attached, and your API key to sign the request. Nothing is sent while you set things up.

Do not put personal or confidential details in a prompt. Read your provider’s terms and privacy policy before you use it.

FAQ

Do I need the AI generator to use CF7 Mate?

No. It is optional. Every other feature works without a provider key.

The AI Generate button says to configure a provider. Why?

No key is saved yet. Add one under CF7Mate → Tools.

Is this the same as connecting an AI app with Saddle?

No. The generator uses the key you save in CF7 Mate. A Saddle connection lets an AI app you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, build forms with its own account. It does not use this key.

What should I do next?

Add extra fields and conditional logic to the generated form, then style it.
