CF7 Mate

Form Responses, CSV Export and Analytics

Keep Contact Form 7 submissions in WordPress, then search, export, print and count them. Both features are off until you turn them on.

Contact Form 7 sends an email and keeps nothing. CF7 Mate can keep every submission in your WordPress database, so you can search it, export it and see how each form performs. Both features start off. You decide when to collect data.

What does Form responses store?

For each submission, it stores the submitted fields, the form, the date, the visitor’s IP address and their browser details. Everything stays in your WordPress database. Nothing is sent to PlugPress.

Mention this in your privacy notice before you turn it on.

How do I start saving responses?

  1. Go to CF7Mate → Settings and turn on Form responses.
  2. Every form now saves its submissions.
  3. To stop one form from saving, open it in Contact Form 7, click the CF7 Mate tab, open Responses and untick Save submissions of this form to the database. Then click Save.

Responses start with new submissions. Earlier submissions are not added.

Where do I see and manage responses?

Go to CF7Mate → Responses. You can:

  • Search responses, and filter by form or by status.
  • Open a response to see the submitted data and submission details.
  • Mark a response as New or Read, move it to Trash, restore it, or delete it for good.
  • Select several responses and act on them at once.

How do I export or print responses?

  • Export downloads the current list as a CSV file you can open in a spreadsheet. One export holds up to 500 responses.
  • Print / Save PDF on a single response opens a page you can print or save as a PDF.

The CSV file is protected against spreadsheet formulas. A value that starts like a formula is written as plain text, so opening the file cannot run it.

What does Form analytics show?

Turn on Form analytics, then open CF7Mate → Analytics. For each form you see:

Number What it means
Views Page loads that showed the form. Counted on your own site.
Submissions Saved responses for the form. Trashed and deleted responses are not counted.
Estimated conversion Submissions divided by views.
Last submission When the latest saved response arrived.

All numbers cover all time. Views count from the day you turn analytics on. Submissions only count when Form responses is on. That is why the figures are estimates. Do not use them for billing or audits.

FAQ

Are my submissions sent anywhere?

Not by Form responses. They stay in your database. Only webhooks send submissions out, and only to addresses you add.

Why does Analytics show views but no submissions?

Form responses is off, or the form opts out of saving. Analytics counts saved responses, not emails sent.

Will turning a feature off delete my responses?

No. Turning Form responses off stops new saves. Your saved responses stay in the database.

Who can see responses?

Only users who can manage the site’s options, which usually means administrators.

What should I do next?

Send submissions to other tools with webhooks, or let visitors finish long forms later with save and continue.
